Growing Alaska's Physician Workforce by Enhancing Our Graduate Medical Education (GME)
We are forming a diverse and representative Graduate Medical Education (GME) Council to strengthen Alaska's physician workforce. If you're interested in serving on the Council or contributing in other ways, please complete our interest form by June 1. Your insights and participation are invaluable to this initiative.
After our successful Founders' Forum in May, the Alaska GME Council is set to launch in 2025 in Fall of 2025.
The purpose of the Alaska GME Council is to improve the access to quality healthcare for all Alaskans by increasing recruitment and retention of well-trained physicians via stabilizing and increasing the programs and opportunities for training physicians in post-graduate education within the state.
Meet the Working Group for the GME Council—a collective of leaders who have contributed their time, insight, and energy over the past 10 months to lay the foundation for Alaska’s GME Council. Their expertise spans clinical care, academic leadership, health policy, workforce development, and rural health. We are excited to launch the forthcoming robustly representative Council in the Fall of 2025.
